Managing locations and forays

Specimens that you find are usually recorded against a foray.  A foray is defined by a location and date.  The app provides specific screens for adding and amending location details, and for specifying dates for those locations, to define forays.

These screens can be accessed from the Forays screen by tapping on the Locations button ...

... or by tapping the Choose foray button on the Add Records screen.

Manage location screens

The initial screen lists all of your existing locations. Tap on the round information button to review the details for a location. Tapping on the Add a new location row will allow you to set up a new location – the details are optional apart from the location name.

Tapping on an existing location name will bring up the list of foray dates for that location.

Tapping on the Edit button allows you to delete a location or to amend its details.  If you choose to delete a location which has specimens assigned to it, you will be given the choice of whether to delete them or to move them to an “unassigned” category.

Foray date screens

Selecting a date will set that as the current foray. (New records are added to the current foray.)  Tapping on Add a new foray date will bring up a date selector.

Tapping on Edit will allow you to modify or delete a date.  As with locations, if you choose to delete a foray which has specimens assigned to it, you will have the choice of whether to delete them, or to move them to an unassigned location and date.
